3K a year 6 days ago 6 days ago 6 days ago POSITION SUMMARY The Laboratory Technical Apprentice is responsible for supporting technical functions with oversight in the laboratory testing areas including Core Lab, Central Processing, Microbiology, Transfusion Services and Pathology according to established procedures, ensuring quality standards are met.
The Technical Apprentice performs his/her functions in compliance with all established departmental standards.
The Apprentice becomes educated in and learns how to ensure data validity of interpreted results and laboratory process.
This position becomes educated in appropriate procedural techniques related to specimen procurement, handling and processing, instrument operation, operator maintenance, application of universal precautions and inventory monitoring.
The Apprentice also becomes educated to assist in the evaluation of new equipment and equipment troubleshooting, as needed.
The Technical Apprentice becomes competent in quality control procedures and proficiency testing in accordance with established parameters and standards, working with the Laboratory Leadership to identify quality control, patient or procedural problems with in the section.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.
Qualifications Education:
Associate's Degree and/or Bachelor's degree in medical technology, chemical, physical or biological sciences or related field acceptable to the certifying agency (ASCP) is required; actively enrolled in an accredited med tech or histology program required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Registry eligible (ASCP) for Medical Technician/Technologist or Histology Technician/Technologist.
Participation in 12 CEUs annually, required.
Experience:
Prior Laboratory experience preferred, but not required.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Learns to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
Strict compliance with laboratory Fraud and Abuse policies and requirements is an employment condition.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Must have the ability to distinguish colors.
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
This position demands increased amounts of standing, bending and manual manipulation, as well as some light lifting up to 20lbs.
The department specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool lists the essential functions of this position.
Core competencies will be assessed primarily to the following patient population(s) served (with the exception of newborns):
All diagnoses/conditions of patients admitted to the hospital.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP This position reports to the Laboratory Leadership.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
